Job Title: Security Systems Technician

Location: New Braunfels, Texas and San Antonio Metroplex

Reports To: Technologies Account Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview:

The Security Systems Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting physical and electronic security systems. This role combines project-based system integration with ongoing facility operations support to ensure the safety and security of people, assets, and infrastructure. The technician will work in commercial, industrial, and residential environments, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting, and customer support.

A Security Systems Technician shall:

Installation & Integration

  • Install, configure, and maintain security systems including:
    • Access control systems
    • Video surveillance (IP and analog CCTV)
    • Intrusion detection and alarm systems
    • Intercom and communication systems
    • Perimeter and fire integration (if applicable)
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Run, terminate, and test cabling (CAT5e/6, coax, fiber)
  • Program and commission devices, software platforms, and integrated solutions

Operations & Maintenance

  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and performance testing of security systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Replace, repair, or upgrade faulty equipment
  • Administer access control systems (credential issuance, revocation, and log audits)
  • Monitor system activity and report any unauthorized access or security incidents

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, service calls, access control records, and inventory
  • Prepare reports on security incidents, system performance, and recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure work complies with safety codes, industry standards, and customer specifications

Collaboration & Support

  • Provide training and technical support to clients and end-users
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to deliver projects on time
  • Stay current on emerging security technologies, vendor platforms, and industry best practices

Requirements and Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certifications (CompTIA, BICSI, Lenel, Genetec, Milestone, Axis, Honeywell, etc.) preferred


  • 2+ years of experience installing and servicing security systems (or equivalent training)
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, networking, and system integration
  • Familiarity with access control management and auditing practices
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving, reporting, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (field service role)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments
