Job Title: Service Technician

Location: New Braunfels, Texas and San Antonio Metroplex

Reports To: Service Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview:

The Service Technician is responsible for responding to service requests, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in a timely and efficient manner. This role ensures that all work meets safety standards, minimizes downtime for clients, and delivers lasting, cost-effective solutions. The Service Technician will also conduct tests, maintain accurate service logs, and support continuous improvement in system reliability.

A Service Technician shall:

  • Respond to all service tickets in a timely manner and efficiently repair electrical system


  • Work rapidly without compromising quality in order to minimize down times
  • Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted
  • Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality
  • Commit to compliance of all safety standards and regulations at all times
  • Troubleshoot all problems effectively, performing quality, lasting repairs
  • Log all services and report progress to management
  • Always seek the solution that is most cost effective without compromising quality
  • Assess systems and suggest modifications to prevent future issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Review electrical engineering drawings and refer issues requiring changes. Coordinate with General Electrical Superintendent and project manager
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, safety codes and local electrical codes
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels; installs Buss, Busbar, electrical feeders, power systems and/or switchgear
  • Coordinate work with Purchasing to ensure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of project. Minimize purchasing of materials. Plan ahead
  • Ensure all installations meet quality and electrical code standards
  • Make daily, weekly schedules for proper manpower utilization
  • Coordinate production and attend meetings with other trades and the general contractor to identify and resolve any conflicts
  • Ability to identify potential discrepancies (change orders) in the drawings and relay the information clearly to management
  • Ability to attend, represent Core Electrical Group and be involved in general contractor scheduling meetings
  • Ability to assist Project Manager prepare construction schedules
  • Complete basic paperwork (i.e., foreman logs, performance evaluations, purchase order logs, timecards, etc.) in a timely manner and as required by Core Electrical Group
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • Obtain, organize, and manage materials effectively and develop as built documentation
  • Maintain a current, up to date set of as-built drawings for billing and close-out purposes
  • Establish expectations and motivates crews to consistently meet or beat goals
  • Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures
  • Always Abides by Core Electric Group safety policy
  • Always abides by site / project safety policy
  • Assist in enforcing Core Electric Group safety policy
  • Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations

Requirements and Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree


  • MUST have current State of Texas Issued Journeyman or Master Electrician’s License. MUST be kept current
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Must possess valid driver’s license AND have a clean motor vehicle record
  • Must be able to pass drug and background check
  • Solid working knowledge of all electrical industry standards and codes
  • Computer knowledge
