Position Overview:
The Electrical Apprentice supports licensed electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This position provides hands-on training while developing the knowledge, skills, and experience required to become a licensed journeyman electrician. Apprentices work under the direct supervision of experienced electricians while maintaining Core Electrical Group’s commitment to safety, quality, and craftsmanship.
A Electrical Apprentice Shall:
- Gather and organize tools, equipment, and materials for daily work activities.
- Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit under supervision.
- Assist with pulling wire, making terminations, and installing electrical equipment.
- Support the installation of conduit, boxes, devices, fixtures, and electrical systems.
- Assist in lifting, positioning, mounting, and securing electrical equipment and materials.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Remove debris, scrap materials, and excess construction materials from the jobsite.
- Safely operate hand and power tools under the direction of a Foreman or Journeyman Electrician.
- Read and interpret basic construction drawings and electrical layouts as directed.
- Follow all Core Electrical Group safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain regular attendance and arrive prepared to work each day.
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn through classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support successful project completion.
- Never perform work on energized electrical equipment or circuits unless authorized and qualified to do so
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Texas Apprentice Electrician License in good standing.
- Enrolled in or willing to enroll in an approved electrical apprenticeship program.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to pass required background and drug screening, if applicable.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional conduct.
